Lawrence includes what he calls 'furniture' in his moonlight works, including these tethered boats which catch the light and cast a shadow. He begins his paintings with a simple pencil line to denote the horizon before mentally mapping out the rest of the composition.

He adds: “I feel a very spiritual connection with my surroundings – not just the sights, but the sounds and smells. I can walk out into huge vistas with towering skies, or absorb myself in silent trees and foliage."

A giclée is a printing process which creates a richness, accuracy and depth of colour through microscopic dots of pigment-based ink, ensuring the fidelity of the print to the original artwork.
