Mastered over the years, Nic’s depictions of life’s joys, trials and relationships have long enchanted viewers. Deeply rooted in reflection, The Next Chapter 2026 is inspired by the embrace of the belief that the future is not separated from the past but rather informed by it.  

Depicting a miniature figure being lifted by colourful balloons, the title, ‘Hang On’, captures the essence of the artwork – the message that moving forward and sometimes surviving is about holding on, even when the weight of life feels heavy. The playful and bright balloons contrast sharply with the figures below – the devils and black dog which represent life’s darker moments, addiction and depression – creating a mix of hope and tension. Creating a strong, powerful symbol of perseverance, Joly reminds us that even in difficult times, there’s always a chance to rise above.
